Hey everybody! Today I want to talk about this awesome movie I watched on Shudder called “In Search of Darkness: A Journey Into Iconic 80s Horror”. This documentary goes into great details about all the horror movies in the 80s. Let’s get into it!
Although this movie is about 4 and a half hours long, every minute is worth it! It was entertaining and also very informative. They talk all about the special effects, and all the hard work, sweat, blood, and tears they put into their movies. It also features two people I’ve interviewed (Bill Moseley and Doug Bradley) and many other iconic actors, actresses and directors as well. This type of movie is awesome for a kid like me because I didn’t grow up with these movies and I feel like it captures the excitement that I would’ve had if I saw these horror flicks back in the day. It makes me happy to be a horror nerd.
This movie was directed by David A. Weiner. It was very well-made and I think he did a very great job. I loved how it showed a lot of the classic horror trailers for some of the movies. My favorite part of the whole doc is when they go into great detail about the special effects. It really amazes me how much work they put into these beautiful monsters. Especially compared to these days when a lot of movie effects are done with CGI. For example, in the Gremlins film, I thought Gizmo was CGI forever until I watched this movie. I love how they bring these creatures to life.
If you want to watch this movie, go to Shudder and give it a watch. I HIGHLY suggest it!! Thanks for reading this and I hope you have an awesome rest of your day.
