I just did a brand new interview with the incredible Tye Trujillo!! Let’s get into it!!
Tye Trujillo’s band “OTTTO” has a new album coming out sometime next year and I can’t wait to hear it!! OTTTO has a great mix between thrash, punk, rock and heavy metal. There is already a single out right now called “Skyscraper” and I currently think it is their best song, yet!!
We also spoke a little bit about his incredible guitar playing in Stranger Things season 4. If you didn’t know, there is a scene where the beloved Eddie Munson character plays Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” and the recording was actually played by Tye Trujillo!! Definitely one of the coolest scenes in the entire show!! Tye seemed pretty proud of himself and very psyched to be featured on such an iconic scene/show.
We discussed more about bands that inspire/heal him and we both agreed on Alice In Chains being the perfect mix of healing, beautiful and heavy. Layne Staley’s harmonies and vocals sound like they’re coming straight from the core of the Earth so I think a lot of people will agree with Tye. He also mentioned that he couldn’t deny that Metallica inspired him as well. I can’t deny it either, James Hetfield was one of my first guitar heroes that made me want to pursue more with music and invest in a guitar of my very own.
Tye was super kind and hope to interview him in person one day!! It felt really good to speak to a musician and somebody who is truly to music, who is the same age as me!!
