New Interview with Zakk Wylde

Elliott spoke with Zakk Wylde at Underground Audio in New York City about his new Black Label Society record “Doom Crew Inc” which comes out on November 26th.The band recently released its first single for the song “Set You Free” and the video has already hit over 1 million views on YouTube.

Zakk effortlessly plays his guitar in between answering Elliott’s questions during this interview, and he mentioned the following when asked about how he feels about the fact that his music has inspired so many people:
“Whether it inspires you or lifts you up from a dark place or whatever, that’s what the power of music is all about.”

When Elliott wished Zakk a happy 30th anniversary to his mega-successful album with Ozzy Osbourne “No More Tears”, Zakk answered with the following:
“I have nothing but great memories of making that record with Ozz, and I’ve always said, with Ozzy, it’s just a miracle that any work ever gets done because we’re always constantly laughing and eating pizza. You know what I mean? When we made that record, when we listened back to it, we were really excited about it. And when Ozzy did the vocal track on “Mama I’m Coming Home” I was just getting chills when I heard that one. And then for “Time After Time,” Ozz calling me up when he had put the harmonies on, he was like ‘Zakk, you gotta check this out!” and you know, putting it up on the phone.”

Zakk also mentioned during the discussion that Black Label Society will be releasing their next single “End of Days” and the track will be included in their setlist on their upcoming tour along with “Set You Free” from the new album.

And when Elliott asked Zakk if he could eliminate one bad thing in this world, Zakk responded with:
“Well obviously, COVID we’ll have to go with, right? So nobody gets sick. I guess so nobody ever gets sick. How about that? We’ll go with that one. Anything that will make anybody sick”

Lastly, when asked what he thinks he’d be doing in life right now if he never pursued a career in music, Zakk answered with the following:
“I would be doing music regardless. There was no backup plan. There are no other eggs in the basket or nothing like that. Whatever it is that you wanna do in life, that you have passion for, do that.”
